Position Overview

The Lead Quality Inspector – 1st Class position will provide the customer and company with accurate appraisals of production according to customer specifications, and assure all gauges and measuring equipment is fit for use.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Key Responsibilities/Key Duties
  • Check and verify that set up parts from production equipment conforms to specifications.  Record results on appropriate documents and communicate them to the operator.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to specification prior to release for outside processing or shipment to customers.  Inspect parts that are returned from the outside processing for conformance to specification.
  • Report discrepancies using DMR procedure.  Participates as needed in dispositions and corrective actions.  Determine appropriate gage configuration for special projects such as sorting.
  • Performs layout inspection for PPAP, ISIR etc.  Conducts process and gage capability analysis as required.
  • Participates in team feasibility reviews and answers questions pertaining to quality issues such as inspection techniques, machine capability etc.
  • Evaluate customer returns to determine if customer findings are consistence with our inspection results
  • Calibration of gages utilizing appropriate calibration techniques.
  • Support the departmental supervisor in the evaluation and response to customer complaints.
  • Train and assist all other operators in the department to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.
  • In the absence of the Quality Director, the Lead Inspector will assume the following duties as a minimum;
  • Provide leadership and direction to the quality department as required.
  • Act as customer interface on all quality issues. This includes problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and determine disposition of non-conforming material. This includes material at TCR, at TCR customers, and at TCR suppliers.
  • Keep department clean and organized.
  • Adhere to all safety and ISO/TS policies and report violations to manager.
  • Participate in all company training.
Desired and/or Required Skills and Experience
  • High School diploma plus some specialized training and one to three years of related experience.
  • Maintain good communication with department lead.
  • Maintain a positive working environment within all departments.
  • Work at a fast pace and able to adjust schedule to meet customer demands.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work. 
  • Basic computer skills.
