Whitesell is now evaluating candidates for an Engineering Manager position for its Whitesell Precision Components (WPC) operating division, located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. WPC is focused on highly engineered, machined components that are utilized primarily in the automotive market. JOB DESCRIPTION: ENGINEERING MANAGER                                                                   EXEMPT: YES

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Provides effective leadership to the technical team in the facility including manufacturing engineering, maintenance, tool room, and EHS.  Effective deployment of resources to provide support for the manufacturing operation. Acts as the key technical representative for the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following (others may be assigned):
 
  • Provides overall analysis of plant operations for determining and recommending machine capital requirements.
 
  • Develops and implements process improvement, driving true cost savings in the organization. 
 
  • Supports lean manufacturing development in the facility.  
 
  • Manages and effectively prioritizes the workload of the team, ensuring proper shop floor support to the operation.  Ensures team is operating with a customer focus mindset.
 
  • Owns the new product process from the initial quote to production launch.  Ensures timelines, budgets, process design, and delivery to the customer is effectively achieved.
 
  • Sets effective strategy for the facility including updated technology, capital planning, rebuild schedules, and high level productivity projects.
 
  • Prepares, presents and adequately explains budget and project proposals, including progress status updates, to Whitesell Executive Management.
 
  • Consults and negotiates with clients and suppliers to finalize engineering project specifications.
 
  • Develops machine cycle and obtains input from operations to define the most competitive machine cycle for the Whitesell sales team.
 
  • Partners with all functions of the business to effectively lead the facility and improve from current state.
 
  • Provides support to the Whitesell customer base, act as key technical resource for the facility. 
 
 
  • Supports IATF-16949 efforts by compliance with quality policies and procedures. After proper training, conducts internal compliance audits when requested.
 
  • Effectively develops the technical team of the facility, ensuring growth and high performance. 
 
 
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology Management.  Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Five to eight years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering in a machining environment.
  • Four or more years in a leadership/managerial capacity.   
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills including analytical and computational skills.
  • Completion of a pre-employment background check and drug test with negative results.
